Dr. Lamiya is a Consultant in Reproductive Medicine and Infertility with over 25 years of experience. She holds an accredited subspecialty training in Reproductive Medicine and surgery from the United Kingdom and currently serves at First IVF Fertility Centre in Abu Dhabi. Prior to relocating to the UAE in 2025, she was a Consultant at St Mary’s Hospital, Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust for over 13 years. This is one of the UK’s largest tertiary IVF centres—where she led the Reproductive Medicine department for four years.
Education
Dr. Lamiya obtained her medical degree from the Manipal Academy of Higher Education, India. She then completed national specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from the Northwestern Deanery in Manchester in the United Kingdom, followed by subspecialist training in Reproductive Medicine accredited by the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at St Mary’s hospital in Manchester. She undertook clinical research training and obtained her MD from the University of Manchester. Her research focused on pharmacogenetics in IVF.
Clinical Expertise
Dr Lamiya has expertise in the management of subfertility, assisted reproduction including ovulation induction, intrauterine insemination, IVF and ICSI. In addition to this, her expertise also includes early pregnancy problems including recurrent miscarriages, menstrual disorders, gynecological endocrinology including PCOS. She was the lead for the Recurrent miscarriage service at St.Mary’s hospital for over 13 years.
She is a specialist in hysteroscopic surgery and undertakes hysteroscopic surgery for fibroids, intra uterine adhesions (Asherman syndrome) and uterine anomalies. She also has expertise in 3-D gynaecology scanning and management of congenital uterine anomalies.
Academic Leadership
An honorary senior lecturer at the University of Manchester, Dr. Lamiya has published more than 50 papers, including senior authorship on Cochrane reviews. She was a recipient of the NIHR grant for multicentre research, contributing significantly to evidence-based fertility medicine. Her research has centred on recurrent implantation failure, recurrent miscarriage, and IVF pharmacogenetics.
Teaching and Training
Dr. Mohiyiddeen has served as subspecialty training programme director at St Mary’s Hospital for eight years, supervising postgraduate degrees including MPhil and MD. She is an accredited trainer for the British Fertility Society in assisted conception and advanced ultrasound modules.
