Kareem Murad
Chief Financial Officer

Kareem Murad acts as CFO of Blue Ocean Health and its underlying entities, heading the financial department and assisting in the implementation of the corporate strategy.

Kareem has extensive experience in financial services where he previously worked on both the sell side and buy side of private and publicly listed companies, covering areas including corporate finance, financial restructuring, financial planning, budgeting, evaluation and optimization of capital structure, capital raising, IPO readiness, management consulting, compliance and governance.

He previously advised and acted as the Chief Financial Officer and Restructuring Officer for Thumbay Group from January 2020 to October 2020. He was also a founding member of Amanat Holdings; a AED 2.5 billion healthcare and education investment company that is listed on the Dubai Financial Market. Prior to Amanat Holdings, he was a Director of Investments in Ithmar Capital, a private equity firm that managed in excess of USD 1 billion of investments, where he played an active role in the internal investment committee that reviewed investment opportunities and portfolio companies progress reports, and contributed to the growth of a managed fund that led a USD 1.7 billion IPO on the LSE for Al-Noor Hospitals Group.

Prior to Ithmar, Kareem served as Senior Vice President in the research department at SHUAA Capital for 7 years, where he was the acting head of research in addition to leading and covering the logistics and transportation sector including aviation, logistics services, shipping, port development and infrastructure. Kareem was the lead analyst on several initial public offerings (IPOs) including the largest listing in the history of the Middle East, DP World.

He started his professional career in 2000 as the Assistant Head of Treasury and Investment Department in Arab Banking Corporation (Jordan) for 4 years.

Kareem holds a Bachelor’s degree in business administration from the American University of Beirut and a Master’s degree in International Finance and Capital Markets (with honors) from the University of Brighton in the United Kingdom.
